What happens at The Captain Cocktail Party

We are often asked, what privileges do we get from cruising so frequently. Well Princess Cruises has a great loyalty program, and a quick search on the Princess Website will list all the benefits. Once of those benefits is The Captain Cocktail Party.

If you sign into www.princess.com, go to My Account, select My Profile, then Membership Benefits, which lists the benefits based on your cruise history. If you are Platinum or Elite and on a cruise of six days or more, you are likely to be invited to the Captain Circle Cocktail Party. These party’s are usually held on the second last sea day, which is often cocktail dress.

A day or two before the event, you will receive your invitation which will look like this:

On arrival to the party, you will be greeted with a free drink (general sparkly, wine or beer, but sometime spirits are available on order), and waiters will also bring around hour horderves. The drinks will keep coming during the hour function.

The Band will be playing and dancing is encouraged:

After about 30 minutes, the Captain’s Circle host will then give a small speech

Then the Captain is welcomed to the stage to do his speech

The Captain will talk about news, what’s happening, and generally interesting matters. Then the top three most cruised passengers will be welcome to the stage and presented a reward (bottle of champagne).

The most cruised passengers will also receive a small gift from Princess

It is not unusual for the most cruised passengers, to have over completed 100 cruises (the two gentlemen pictured are here are well know identities who would have now done over 200 cruises).

Is it worth going

Yes, we believe it is. Those that have cruised many, many, times, do deserve recognition. The Captain Cocktail Party is one of the best ways cruise ships can recognise and reward passengers and Princess do the Captains Cocktail party really well.
